A bright clear ruby beer (perfectly served) that tastes brilliant after a hard days graft, plenty of taste but not too strong so it can be drunk in large quantities to slake a thirst without any ill effects. ( Sampled in theRoyal Oak Inn 50 yds from the Felinfoel Brewery)

On draught at Mahars in Albany, NY. This was one weird beer, and I would have never guessed at "bitter"; it certainly wouldn't get any points for being stylistically correct. However, I liked it quite a bit...caramel/Granny Smith apple nose, dark and syrupy brown, no head. Could be anything...Scottish? Brown Ale? I dunno. Sweet-tart apple flavors, a bit oaky towards the finish, slightly thin, cidery/vinous qualities. I like it, whatever it wants to be called.

April 2004. Red copper ale with a cidery and woddy aroma, very earthy. Pleasant taste of caramel apples and light hops. Medium bodied. It was a nice change of pace, after the watery marvels of CH Evans.

Cask:Light amber to copper coloured, heavily lacing white head; faint fruity - maybe traces of maltiness, too - yeasty and a bit bitter nose (sulphur?); light, but distinctive bitter flavour; short, dry bitter-fruity finish. Pleasant, but unspectacular.............
