I *loved* this ale. Easy to drink yet full bodied, a very well balanced ale, but more ’sweet’ than it was ’bitter’. Went really well with the lamb shank with minted gravy I had ordered. I just found myself wanting to drink more and more.
The name and the label kick butt, too. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Small offwhite coarse head. Brown body. Light sugary toffeeish malt aroma with caramel notes, slightly watery. Tartish malty taste with smoky wild berry notes and a touch of earth. Clean mouthfeel. Watery, empty malty aftertaste. Quite nice, but not that much taste. (0.5l bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger.) yngwie (5000), Kristiansand, Norway
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 10, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear, amber color, with a small, good-looking off-white head that disappeares too soon. The nose is mostly malty, with bread and some roastiness, maybe a bit coffee-ish, and followed by some fruityness. The fruityness is more pronounced in the flavor, lasting from the first sip to the very end, but there’s also roasted malt, some breadcrusts and a wee coffee flavor. It finishes quite dry, with a hoppy bitterness delivering both citrus and a fruityness, and the roasted malt is present here as well. Medium body. Definately a British-style bitter. I could wish for some more aroma, but it is definately a quaffable beer. (070910) Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Lightly fruity and coffeeish nose. Medium body, caramelish accents and some caramel. The finish is dry. Very British indeed. 310807 Grovlam (3810), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Bottle. Small rocky beige head that mostly diminished. Clear sparkling body with an amber color. Spare lacework. Aroma of grass, toasted malt, light ashtray feel, citrus, caramel and fruit. Medium bodied with a light dry texture and an average carbonation. Light bitter and sweet flavor. Light dry and again ashtray like bitter finish. What I thought was a typical Bitter. 31-08-2007
