| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Aug 21, 2005 Draft at the Abbaye. Clear caramel colored ale; thin head; malty aroma with a hint of apples. Sorry, just couldn’t get this one down. Maybe some apple flavor, but to me more vinegar and bad homebrew bite. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2005 Spicy hop aroma. Tea colored with a thumb thick bubbly white head. Malty with notes of grape and sweetbread. Very mild and inoffensive, but to me it is much better than its current rating. hughie (3075), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jul 22, 2005 Bottled. A rather uninspiring appearance - brown, slightly cloudy, very small head. At first the taste seems pleasantly malty, but then you get a rather nasty, musty taste something like very stale cabbage, followed by a hint of bitterness. This tasted old-fashioned, like something from the dull, depressing Wales of the 1960’s. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 21, 2005 A dark bitter, typical of Wales. Brownish red with a thin, tan head. Pretty intense aroma of fresh Goldings hops with a good english malt foundation and mild, ale esters. Big ale yeast fruit on the palate, very malt accented (where are the Golding that were in the aroma?). Unfortunately an overcarbonated acidity hits just past mid palate detracts from the flavor profile but the malt sweetness comes back in but it is still diminished and overshadowed by the overcarbonation. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 13, 2005 Bottle - Poured brown with a short offwhite head. Aroma is of a caramel apple. Flavor is a nice blend of caramel hops and nice bitter apple tasting hops. On the palate this is medium bodied and easy to drink. The carbonation is light and the finish is quite satisfyingly bitter. I enjoyed this. Better than I expected... Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
