chriswa (5), Wales does not count Mar 20, 2004 Updated: Jul 12, 2004Consistently a top draw pint. You really could drink this all day, or at least try! Frog King99 (51), L.A., California, USA Oct 18, 2000 This beer also goes by the name of Welsh Ale ultraspank (856), Dublin, Ohio, USA Jun 13, 2007 Inviting nose of dried fruit & berries, apples, flowers, citrus, and caramel. Pours a clear copper with amber highlights. The mostly lasting off-white creamy head leaves good lace. The front is balanced, the middle malty with a light acidity, and the toasted finish is full of lovely fig and raisin and fig notes. The medium body is dry and lively, the finish feels astringent. A perfect session offering. I’m a sucker for a well done bitter. Thanks to my buddy Rick bringing this over with him. Aurelius (2466), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 22, 2005 Been looking forward to this one all night. Felinfoel’s ESB is my highest rated beer, and this was a coup to find another Felinfoel brew en route back to Tallahassee. (BTW - if you’re ever in Pensacola, be sure to stop by Four Winds - great selection of beer and wine, and the proprietor held the store open for me to buy this.)
This didn’t disappoint. Strong bitter/ tannic character but without being too edgy-- both in the flavor and aroma profiles. Definite caramel apple qualities in the flavor profile, muted tangy-ness, some whiffs of pipe tobacco. As far as I’m concerned, this is another tour de force from Felinfoel. Slight appearance dings for the plastic-y looking label, although I like the general log and Celtic interweave. Medium body has a peaty finish with a bit of vanilla. reddragon (27), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Dec 21, 2007 Bottle. Poured into pint glass. Very nice head, lasting atop a golden body. On first sip we get a bit of wine, some alcohol, fresh hay and maltiness. Hops also up front. Palate is spritzy, refreshing. Not much change towards the bottom of the glass, very balanced.
