[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A pitch black beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is light - but what is there is sweet and lightly roasted combined with notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty with a light roasted character as well as light notes of berries, leading to a roasted dry end with a light touch of hops. The mouthfeel is quite smooth. An OK light stout.

Bottle 50cl. @ [ Fastelavns Tasting Ulfborg ].
Clear medium red brown color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, tart - acidc and salty sea water notes, light chocolate. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light light bitter with a average duration. Body is light medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20090221]

Bottle, 4.1%. Sour aroma, smells extremely grainy. Hint of mild plastic, perhaps just paper. Almost black colour, red shine. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is quite roasted, there is some paper and grain. Roasted grain in the finish.

Good, pale beige head, irregular over fully opaque black beer. Rich roasted & vanilla aroma; slightly sweet, caramelized syrup. Dry stout taste initially, burnt & slight typical stout (roasted barley) sweetness. There’s a strange vinous flavour, as from a sweet, but ripened sherry, making it way more complex than an ordinary stout. Warming up, a faint smoked ham flavour, even! Medium bodied, very slick and nearly viscous, much more than a 4.5% ABV beer would warrant. Surprising - in the meliorative sense - stout.

Cask conditioned at Charlies. Dark brown coloured. Malt and dark fruits such as prunes in the aroma. Sweet fruity flavour. Again many prunes and raisins. Slightly roasty finish- Light to medium bodied. Short finish. Rather dull for a stout.

Cask(@ Royal Oak, Felinfoel): Almost black coloured, small, firm tanned head; clear toasted and roasted malt in the nose with some fruitiness; moderate, very smooth (roast) bitter flavour, light bodied; lingering, roast-malty, quite dry and a bit fruity finish. A pleasant and tasty brew........

(bottle) Pours a black coloured hue with a big and dense beige foamy head. Sweet and moderately roasted malty aroma with notes of cacao powder, subtle berry-fruity accents and dusty, slightly plastic-like phenols. Moderately sweet flavoured, well-bodied with a soft carbonation. Slightly roasted malty base with berry-fruity notes and hints of chocolate/cacao; slightly roasty bitter and sourish fruity finish and chocolate in the aftertaste (11.VIII.09).
