Bottled. Purchased at Hop Duvel in Gent. Dark tanned amber with a small dense faomy head. Nose is odd; woody and malty with a meat and salad dressingaroma belnded with light sour fruit, spice and faint wood notes. Taste is light vinegar, wood, malts, and tart fruits sprinkled with sugar. Body is mildly acidic and tart. Medium carbonation. Finish is light vinegar, amlt, wood and spiced fruits.

Vintage 81 sampled 2008: A hazy red-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of metal, oxidation, fruit, and cherries. The flavor is sweet with notes of oxidation, metal, over ripe fruits. Too old, but still nice.

An unclear brown beer with a small head. Both the aroma is sweet and sour. Not the best of the type, but a still a nice beer.

Hazy brown red amber colored. Little layer of a head, leaving laces. Vinegar - like apple wine vinegar nose, woody, sour milk taste. Unreal.

Generously shared by a chap at the bar who had ordered a bottle, not realising it was 750ml, which he was not allowed to take away from the bar. Turned out he was the brewer of Grand Union Brewery and had certainly heard of RateBeer. In fact, he described some of SilkTork’s comments on his beer as "almost libellous". Watch out ST! This was the last (supposedly) batch of the 5.5% version brewed by Clarysse and I was very excited to try it. Sadly, the beer itself was less exciting. It was very woody, with a phenolic chemical edge and not as sour as I expected. I agree with Joris that there is a sweetness that masks the sourness. I have no idea when this one was made and bottled. It is always sad to see a traditional beer style dying out but I have to say that, although it was fascinating to try, I just didn’t like it that much (although I’ve tried to mark it objectively). 750ml bottle, GBBF 2004, day 1. RE-RATE: As Verhaeghe Felix Oud Bruin at London Drinker Festival, April 2006, 5.1%. Now brewed at Verhaeghe. Distinctly woody and vinous, but not very tart or sour. Noticeably sweet, in fact. But I thought the original had some sweetness too. Same score.

Old bottle. Murky redish-brown colour. Berry aroma with malty, sweet-sour notes. Very full-ish. Flavour is not as pronounced, it’s metallic and pretty empty compared to aroma. Mouthfeel is fizzy and light.

Nice malt aroma, fruity, light acidity. Dark brown amber cloudy with light off-white foamy lacing head. Sweet-tart start, malty and lactic. Chalky bitter finish. Fruity cherry notes, with lactic gueuze quality. Nice beer.

(Felix Oudenaards Bruin, mayby 2000) and isen´t it just amazing. I get a bottle of this from JakobLöwenlund (thanx J) it turns out to be my favorite flemish sour...................and I find out that its retired! Well, it´s a very sweet, caramel and wood nose, being unfiltred, it HAD(retired, my b**) a hazy ruby color. Starts of with cherry-balsamics, but smoothes into a soft and roung finish. Loads af carbonation makes it a (once in a lifetime :(, champagnyfeeling witch would ave been a perfect aperiatif...if it wasen´t RETIRED!

Amber, ok head. I cant say I liked this one very much. Had an artifical and kinda strange flavor. Spicy and aggressive, not really bad, but I cant put it on my toplist.
