chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Sep 8, 2005 Updated: Dec 12, 2005Cask (gravity dispense), Chelmsford Beer Festival, July 2005. At last - a UK wheat beer that isn’t just a pale beer with a proportion of wheat in the grain bill. This is in the style of a German hefe, and is entirely authentic. All the banana, fruity ester, cloves and vanilla that you expect. Quite pale colour - looks like lemon barley water. This is one of the few UK brewers who is quite prepared to step outside the British norms and it pays dividends. I like this brewery - a lot.
duff (5405), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Jul 22, 2005 Cask@Chemsford Beer Festival. One of the most authentic German wheats i can remember having from an English brewer. Cloudy golden yellow appearance. Standard banana/citrus /clove characters, smooth soft refreshing moutfeel. Touches of vanilla. Perhaps not as rounded as some of the better German wheats i’ve had, but still right up there, well made.
