This beer reminded me a lot of Son of a Beast. Lots of strawberry jam esters and a bit of that salty/meaty stuff that stressed yeast seems to spit out (but not as much as SoaB), which slightly obscure the subtle US-style hops and toffee-laden malt character. Splinters of tasty base malt peep through in the flavour, but it’s mostly hidden behind salt and toffee. Mouthfeel is a tiny bit soapy. Enjoyable enough, but the local examples here are miles behind beers like Bigfoot or Old Crustacean.

Aroma has a lot of alcohol, some strawberry jam, some spearmint, pine, and lemon. Taste is pretty hot, but also too much of an odd sweetness towards the end. Bitterness is somewhat restrained and there is an odd, almost cedary taste that shows up. Thicker than Boris, somewhat smooth, and has a decent length finish. It isn’t awful, but it certainly is not very good either. It is too hot, and too sweet, and unlike Boris I just don’t see much potential with it. Spesh1 (43), , Australia

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 16, 2008 The latest seasonal available on tap at Feral. Reddy coppery body with a lasting light tan head. The aroma is sweet, mainly of malts and some fruit notes. Bitterness balances the sweetness in the taste well, dried fruit , a little nuttiness, doesn’t taste like 11% though there is warmth. Went down very easily.
