Cask (handpump) at the Wenlock Arms, April 2008. This was on the board as Cheltenham Festival amber but I guess it was really Festival Brewery (from Cheltenham) Amber - the ABV certainly matches. Using Festival as a brewery name could prove confusing, esp[ecially at festivals! Gold/amber colour. Thin & weak. The malt seemed very clammy/sweaty. Uninspiring. Not undrinkable but undoubtedly a disappointing effort although I have to say it didn’t seem to be in tip-top condition. Marked for re-rate.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol, 18/8/08. Pale amber with a decent, off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with a touch of earth hops. Easy mouth feel with some chewy malt, red fruit flavours and a decent bitter finish. A good session bitter.

Cask at the Wenlock Arms, 19th April 2008, with Chris, Ian, Mes & the gang. Yellowy amber and rather flat. Smoke/ash malt aroma that carries over in the flavour. Could do with being livelier. I agree with Chris, one for a re-rate.

AMes rate: Cask at the Wenlock.
Orange gold colour with no head or condition. Wheaty aroma with a bit of cereal. Dull dusty hop flavour with some wet, earthy malt. Rather rough and raw in the finish. Not great.
