bierkoning (5989), La Tropica, Netherlands Nov 1, 2009 Bottle from kappldav123, thanks! Deep dark brown color. Malt and apple syrup in the aroma. Malty, roasty bready flavor with toffee and apple syrup. Sweetish but decent beer. oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Oct 13, 2009 Bottled@Björntasting. Deep ruby red colour, small beige head. Aroma is caramel, sweet malts, mild sugary notes as well as hops and butter. Flavour is caramel malts, quite sweet notes as well as some raisins and mild toasted notes. omhper (12154), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 27, 2009 Bottled. Dark brown, airy head. Light buttery cocoa aroma. Sweet with clean buttery malt. Lightly roasty, slight salty bitterness. Quite basic. Allen (1286), Switzerland Jun 10, 2009 Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of kappldav123. It pours a beautiful deep ruby beer with a creamy, nicely lasting beige head which leaves a remarkably nice lacework. Malt, cherry, vegetabels and pumpernickel showing up in the nose- decent but not really exciting or inviting. Sweet malty tate. Low bitterness. Pumpernickel, cherry and coffee in the taste. Light to medium bodied. Easy drinkable. Not much carbonation. The palate is poor. Sweet malty finish. I am not a big fan of the style- a good example though. Thanks a lot kappldav123! Ungstrup (14757), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 14, 2009 Bottled. A red-brown beer with a tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and straw as well as light notes of dust. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel as well as medium notes of dusty hops. The body is thin. Thanks yespr for sharing. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Mar 4, 2009 Bottle 50cl. @ home. [ Trade by Koelschtrinker ]. Clear dark red brown color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark bread, roasted. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium to light, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20081205] JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 17, 2008 Deep chestnut-brown beer with a big dark-beige head, receding. Sweet-bready nose, some liquorice and burnt sugar. Taste less sweet; more leafy, earthy notes than bready. Nutty finish, near fruity, even some low hop profile. Spritzy MF, bit thinnish body, without becoming watery. Good balance sweet-bitter and even sourish (CO²). Quite pleasing Schwarzbier. As a matter of fact, a recent blind try of several Schwarzbiere in Germany revealed a surprisingly high average standard of quality. Danke, joss! Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 8, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Clear orangey brown with a lively, dense, off-white head. Unclean roasted malts in the nose. Medium body with a sweetish and a little unclean roasted maltiness with a light ashy edge. Dry and lightly bitter finish. Not convincing. 050608
