| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Deep chestnut-brown beer with a big dark-beige head, receding. Sweet-bready nose, some liquorice and burnt sugar. Taste less sweet; more leafy, earthy notes than bready. Nutty finish, near fruity, even some low hop profile. Spritzy MF, bit thinnish body, without becoming watery. Good balance sweet-bitter and even sourish (CO²). Quite pleasing Schwarzbier. As a matter of fact, a recent blind try of several Schwarzbiere in Germany revealed a surprisingly high average standard of quality. Danke, joss! oh6gdx (9009), Vasa, Finland
