Malty aroma with Jack Daniels in your face. More JD in your face on the flavor with malt, wood, and some citrus. Fairly average mouthfeel for a barleywine. Ughsmash (4071), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2009 On tap at FoBAB. Poured medium cola brown with a nice cap of beige head. The aroma picked up deeper aged caramel and lesser chocolates with toasted oak and a bit of vanilla around.. sweet overall and quite enticing. The flavor was a few steps back.. darker malts at the core (chocolate and caramel) with more abrasive barrel influence (sour oak and bourbon).. spicy oak and peppery notes at the finish.. didn’t do it for me. Heavier-bodied on the palate with low carbonation.. decent flow at best. WeeHeavySD (3040), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 4, 2008 Poured dark brown with a fairly dark tan head. The nose is sweet dried fruit, malt and alcohol. The flavor is a bit more full, and quite enjoyable with those influences and the alcohol present but not overpowering. Pay no attention to kmweaver rating. He was hammered. He could not even write his own notes. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2008 Tasted on tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Festival on 11/15/2008. This ASA pours a medium brown color from the tap. Small sized head. The aroma is fruity, chocolate with a hint of bourbon and wood. A medium bodied ASA. The malts are chocolate and fruity. Touch of oak and some bourbon sweetness. The hops are earthy and a touch grapefruity. Nice balance. Kind of a weird blend of beer styles, and I am not totally sure it works, but it tastes good. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
