Commercial Description:
The lightest of FiftyFifty's ales, Base Camp is a thirst quenching delight. Pale straw to light gold in color, this beer has a mild malt flavor combined with light bitterness and hop flavor. This beer finishes dry and is very light and refreshing on the palate. Base Camp is a "session beer", meaning you can easily toss back a few in one sitting. So go ahead, pull up a chair and camp out for awhile. 18 IBU / 4.9% ABV

Draft @ FiftyFifty. Pours a clear, bright golden color; thin white head with patchy, fine-bubbled lacing. Nice aroma of Belgian sugars, cotton candy, and soft honey; generous, estery nose. Medium mouthfeel: following the aroma, lots of Belgian sugars and cotton candy esters upfront; starts to wear a bit on the palate after a while, with an emergent, mildly astringent bitterness. Lengthy finish: dry hop bitterness and a touch of esters.

Sample at the Pub the day before burning man. Pours gold with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet and light with a bit of yeast. Taste is sweet and light and overall decently nice.

A golden ale with a thin white head. A light grainy malt aroma. In mouth, a crisp grainy malt, rich, light hops, good bodied and refreshing. On tap at brewpub, August 2007.

On tap at the brewpub. Gold color without much head. Light aroma of clean, sweet malt. Light maltiness with a subtle hop balance. More hop flavor than I expected actually, but not too bitter. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Clean and refreshing, but not a whole lot going on.

Slightly burnished golden color. Light head. Malty, husky, bready aroma with very faint herbal hops. Loosely dithered malts, slight acidity and somewhat throat-catching finish.

4 ounce sample at the brewpub. Grassy, lightly floral hop aromas present with some nice biscuity maltiness. A light spiciness is also in there, too. Pretty good. Transparent golden-yellowish body with a small white head. Lightly spicy, peppery, crisp and hoppy to start. Middle has a nice creamy, grainy, and biscuit malty flavors. Nice, crisp, spicy noble hop flavors to finish. Well-crafted.
