Lubiere (3231), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 25, 2008 A nice reddish amber ale with a thin white head. A classy C-hops aroma, piny, floral and enjoyable. A crisp biscuitty malt with restrained c-hops, lots of citrus, grapefruits. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub August 2007. bulletrain76 (537), Santa Cruz, California, USA Aug 17, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Clear, bright copper color. Piney hop aroma. The flavor has a nice caramel malt sweetness with flavorful hops and modest bitterness. The hops are pretty piney, as seems to be the case with all of their hoppy beers, but it is restrained and balanced well here. Light bodied and quite drinkable. They found a good balance in this one, and I would take it over the IPA. Beershine (1214), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 27, 2008 Dark golden color with a small head. Mild, unassertive hop and sweet grain character. Decent and unexciting. grant (759), Martinez, California, USA Aug 25, 2007 Very pretty copper tone, minimal head. Very big aroma of cologney hops and thick, but dusty malt. Aroma is very raw and unrefined. Nicely malty, somewhat caramel flavor, undifferentiated hop fragments. Quite massive hops presence and bitterness in a PA. DYCSoccer17 (2012), Davis, California, USA Aug 25, 2007 4 ounce sample on tap at the brewpub. Piney "C" hops in the nose with some caramel malty aromas, too. Aroma is quite reminiscent of SNPA. Transparent amber-copper body with a small off-white head. Moderately piney hops to start, which appear to be cascade. A bit of pepperiness then follows. Spicy, and without much malt presence in the middle. Finishes with a bit of a bitter spiciness. Pretty straight-forward. This is significantly hoppier than 29 IBU, though. This was almost hoppier than the Amarillo IPA. Perhaps this is sample was the Rockslide IPA that they told us they were out of?
