JorisPPattyn (4246), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 27, 2008 Marks are a fusion of two ratings: one on draught, one bottled. Little yellowish head, gone in secs, over orange-copper beer, visibly well-carbonated. Citrussy notes, some exotic fruit and alcohol on the draught version; bottled is less fruity, drier with some sugar and a cheesy aroma. The draught version is almost too fruity in taste, as well as sweet (melon, tangerine). The bottled version is again less fruity, if not less sweet: cake bottom, caramel and some exotic spice; whilst the draught carries proof of a strange sugar (maybe the sage honey). The beer is medium to well-bodied, but especially the draught one I thought not well-attenuated enough. I get, once more, impression of high fermentation temperatures. Todd, you of all people wouldn’t go for the caricature of the Belgian, no?
Davecooks (1128), Bay Area, California, USA Jun 16, 2008 Bottle. Darker copper color with a smaller head than most triples. Surprisingly little aroma, maybe some sweet malt and a touch of banana. Sweet and spicy, very sweet. stoutlover72 (1313), NorCal, California, USA May 30, 2008 I’ve been trying to get up to this brewpub for awhile now, but seem to keep missing my target. Thankfully, one of the regulars to our last tasting brought in a bottle of this (cool! they are bottling now). I know it takes awhile for a brewer to get dialed in, so this might be something that after awhile will get better the more it’s brewer. Right now, it’s just okay. The beer is the color of light orange, almost yellowish in color with a medium-sized white cap. Aroma is definitely sweet, honeyish in fact. A touch of spices in the nose with some banana showing up. Average mouthfeel, nothing overcarbonated thankfully but a on the watery side of things. Flavor profile of a lemony citrus angle, some yeast, and a touch of spice. Rather underwhelming in some ways, but intruging because you hope that it will get better. beerguy101 (3419), Newark, California, USA May 21, 2008 Tasted at the May Northern California Beer Tasting. This tripel pours a light orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is sweet, fruity and yeasty, with a touch of honey. A medium bodied tripel. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a lot of yeastiness, and a very pronounced banana and clove aspect. Nice mix of spices. Lively carbonation. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. AgentSteve (606), Livermore, California, USA May 15, 2008 Updated: May 31, 2008Pours hazy dark yellow with fluffy tan head. Nose and flavor is banana, clove spice. Smooth and decent complexity.
