Smells funky, like wet hay. Some honey and caramel in the taste, but the palate is weak and watery. If they could beef it up a bit, this would be decent. renffisch (519), london, Greater London, England

The slight fruity tartness I found in the other FILO beers was present here and was more noticeable and less pleasant in this beer. maeib (4731), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

My first ever sighting of a FILO beer in this excellent real ale pub in mid Northants. I can see myself going there regularly in the future! A mid brown beer with good lacing. The aroma is typically English bitter with some fruitiness thrown in. The taste has malts, berry fruits and toffee. A good bitter beer. imdownthepub (5146), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England

A thinnish but pleasantly malty bitter with a heady hoppiness from first to last. There are 2 beers normally available at the brewpub which is one of the better places to go in Hastings. First In Last Out is a brewpub in Hastings which started up in 1985. The beer is very hazy (as were a number of the beers at this poorly organised festival). The colour is burnt sienna or raw leather. Yeasty, cidery, sulphury, soapy aroma. Soft mouthfeel. Watery up front, salty in the finish. Very weak orange in the middle. [2.2]
March, 2006. <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/1 In Last Out, Hastings 3.8%. Nice. A lusty, malty session bitter. Good fresh lingering hops - nicely judged, not too assertive, but plenty of flavour. Nice one. [3.7]
March, 2008 First In Last Out, Hastings Tar, leather and smokey tea. Nice. [3.5]
