Commercial Description:
The Fire Station 5 beers are brewed by Portland Brewing exclusively for the Fred Meyer grocery store chain. Brewed from only malted grains to produce a rich, deep bronze ale with a pleasing round flavor and just a hint of fruit.

A nice clear amber with a fairly thick head. Aroma is strongly malty and inviting. Flavor is malty with metallic hints and a surprising but not unpleasant bitter overtone. A little thin but smooth and satisfying, this ale is definitely worth at least sampling. I am glad that I bought a six pack.

Pours a deep amber color w/ a nice lather. There is a little bit of residual spatter surrounded by a dusty canopy. Aroma is grainy and malty sweet w/ a touch of biscuits. Medium nectar w/ mellow residual affer creates a cotton like texture. Very malty w/ a mild sweetness. Good caramel and a tad of leather. There is also a slight earthy skunkiness to it that is mildly offensive. The finish is bittered nicely. Overall: these Fire Station brews that you can get at Fry’s Market Place here in AZ are actually perfect for beginner micro brew seekers.

12 oz. Bottle. Aroma had a malt house aroma noticed some roasted grain. Amber body with decent head that went flat quickly. Flavor had a malt backbone with some fruit but body texture was mild/medium. .

Pours a nice reddish amber color. Little to no head and very light carbonation. Smooth taste, but a little bit of metallic in there amongst the hints of fruit. A good drinkable beer, but not spectacular.

Bottle poured dark amber with a very light aroma of malt and corn. Flavor is sweet malt with a bit of metalic flavor on the finish. Light body. Wet dishrag on the palate.

12-oz. Pours a crystal clear medium amber with scant white head, no lace, little carb. Dust and sweet malt, a bit of corn on the nose. Subdued attack; light flavor, low body, low carb. Dust, malt, and corn on the mid-palate again. Very slight notes of metallic sourness on the finish. An unambitious recipe indifferently brewed and barely realized.

Bottle pours a mostly clear medium orange body. Skimpy head quickly disappears without lacing. Toffee aroma with faint fruit esters. Medium body could use more carbonation. Taste is decent, toffee maltiness with an even hops bitterness. Vague notes of apple and orange fail to fully emerge. Very pedestrian, but not that bad.
