Commercial Description:
The Fire Station 5 beers are brewed by Portland Brewing exclusively for the Fred Meyer grocery store chain. Brewed from only malted grains to produce a rich, deep bronze ale with a pleasing round flavor and just a hint of fruit.

bottle 12 oz. Clear amber/gold color. Moderate carbonation. Large bubbles off white head that fell quickly, minimal lace. Aroma is cooked caramel with almost no hops. Somewhat dry & bitter, lacking fresh, or noticable hop flavor. Buffered, cooked caramel, weak malt flavor. Disappointing. Maybe an old bottle that was made years ago. Tasted like it.

Fred Meyers generic "micro"..comes in a 12 oz brown bottle..simple dark red label. Not too bad a looking beer in the glass..sort of orangy brown in colour..short lived pure white head..minimal lacing. Smell is decidedly average for a NW Amber ale..clean but subdued caramel malt..and thats about it. very lightweight taste..doesnt really register on the taste buds until the end of the sip when i get a small caramel malt flavour and some weak hops. too watery for my liking in the mouth. Its drinkable..but not very inviting. I cant understand why this is usually priced around the same price as Full Sail , Deschutes and MacT products its more in line with Weinhards.

Amber pour with small head. Small malt nose with some hops. Sweet malts, some nuts in the flavor. Basic amber ale.

Amber color, very little head. Label refers to malted "grains" and I suspect there is some rice or corn in this one. Light taste for an amber, quite uninteresting generally. Still, a drinkable if not spectacular beer. Wouldn't buy it again (I didn't this time either--someone else did).

Light musky hops and sweet malt flavor and aroma, very straight forward amber with a very basic character. Nothing too bright coming out of this one, but nothing negative as well.

A very typical amber, with a bit of a caramel, malty aftertaste. Fruity, with some different tastes than I would expect in an amber. Hazelnuts and cinnamon, with some cloves and a bit of high hoppy aroma. Not bad, and easy to drink.

A classic amber with a good balance of malts and hops. This has a nice fruity flavor to. Very good.

Nice and fruity for an amber... maybe a little too much??? naw... had the rich color of an amber and finished very smooth. the fruity flavor did make me step make and taste it again though.
