Commercial Description:
The Fire Station 5 beers are brewed by Portland Brewing exclusively for the Fred Meyer grocery store chain. Brewed from only malted grains to produce a rich, deep bronze ale with a pleasing round flavor and just a hint of fruit.

Very easy to drink. Not as strong as I'd usually prefer in an amber, but still a very nice beer if you don't want to think about it too much.

Nice and fruity for an amber... maybe a little too much??? naw... had the rich color of an amber and finished very smooth. the fruity flavor did make me step make and taste it again though.

A classic amber with a good balance of malts and hops. This has a nice fruity flavor to. Very good.

8/29/02: Aroma a nice balance of malts and hops...color a pretty orange-amber with a medium creamy off-white head that dissipated quickly and left little lace. Flavor features a sweet malt foundation that lasts through the finish, augmented by moderately light hops and carbonation. Body is medium-light, perhaps a tad thin for this style. Overall, the base flavors are pretty good, but rather one-dimensional---not much complexity going on here. Re-Rate 9/09/02: Again, decent malt base, and with other elements in light quantity, body is acceptable...still, not enough range of elements to be really interesting...still quite drinkable stuff...

Courtesy of Nick76. The aroma is all smooth sweet malts with faint toasted grain notes. The body is a pretty spot on amber/copper color and holds a diminishing off white head. The fore is toasty grains, but is fairly light and delicate on the tongue. The finish is mildly fruity/toasty. Not bad, but definitely not a standout.

Bottle pours a mostly clear medium orange body. Skimpy head quickly disappears without lacing. Toffee aroma with faint fruit esters. Medium body could use more carbonation. Taste is decent, toffee maltiness with an even hops bitterness. Vague notes of apple and orange fail to fully emerge. Very pedestrian, but not that bad.

Pours a nice reddish amber color. Little to no head and very light carbonation. Smooth taste, but a little bit of metallic in there amongst the hints of fruit. A good drinkable beer, but not spectacular.
