| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 3, 2003 Burnt chocolate aroma, very subtle. Great double finger tan head with sticky lacing. Dark brown/ruby color. Flavor is very smokey with a caramel & chocolate aftertaste, very yummy, but not very complex. Palate is bitter and astringent. Overall it's surprisingly good for a house porter from Fred Meyer. bhensonb (4276), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2006 Hints of deep dark chocolate. Thin, fizzy, but a final chocolately finish. So it’s watery. You can’t have everything. It has everything a porter should have, just perhaps not so much as you might like. The FireStation5 brews generally suggest that the lower price means savings on malt. Any differing opinions, let me know. These beers are good value, but they aren’t top of the line. I can live with that. I just won’t buy them frequently. Won’t shun them either. beerguy101 (3907), Newark, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 29, 2004 Dark brown color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts and cinnamon. A light to medium bodied porter. Malts are chocolate and coffee. Hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Slightly spicy and bitter hops. The cinnamon flavors are kind of prevalent, it’s not a bad porter, but the cinnamon flavors make it kind of weird Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 21, 2006 12-oz. What a mindless name. You have to wonder whether they’ll come out with a staff stick stout if the same people are running the marketing department. Pours a deep opaque black with a huge, bubbly, moussy tan head. Looks gorgeous! Very light notes of chocolate and roast in the nose, but mostly dust. The attack is the closest to vacant I’ve found in a porter: light body, almost watery at times. Low carb. Subdued floavors. Granted, porters are the sessions of the stout world, but even moderation must be moderated. Mid-palate’s more of the same fermented sominex: slightest hints of roast and chocolate to go with the dust. No finish. I guess if this is a biblical beer, it’ll inherit the earth. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 3, 2003 This was an example of what could be a fire - roasted porter. A bit of a burnt taste, but in a good way, toasted in the malt taste with very little hops, slightly sweet in the aftertaste with nothing really else to offer.
