Commercial Description:
The Fire Station 5 beers are brewed by Portland Brewing exclusively for the Fred Meyer grocery store chain. A well-hopped, deep golden ale with a malty, full-bodied taste and refreshing finish. Sip and reflect on long journeys to exotic lands.

I prefer a bit more of a bite in my IPA’s and this beer seems to me to be a bit "mass produced". I feel a good IPA should have some cloudiness and this is so very clear. But, as I always say, "beer is like women; it’s all good, just some’s better than others".

On my first trip the the Fred Meyer upon moving out here I picked up a 6 pack and wasn’t disappointed. Light amber in color with low carbonation and a quickly disappearing head. Very floral, somewhat fruity aroma. Well hopped, but not as bitter as I like in an IPA. Pretty well balanced, but a little too sweet a the end. Smooth mouthfeel. Pretty solid beer.

This is the only beer I drink. I use to drink Sam Adams but after I tasted This IPA I cannot tolerate anything else. I have tried all the FireStation 5 beers but this is the only one I like. I have gratiously let others sample my stash but I don’t think they get it. The only problem is getting my trash bin up in my truck every other week for the trash guy. Wish they made it in Kegs or cans!

(Bottle) Pours a clear orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma of light grapefruit and orange. Flavor of mild hops and malt with a bit watery of a mouthfeel.

Bottle in Anchorage AK. True amber with a thin head. No carbonation at all. Clean mashy-sweet aroma. Musky flavors, like sour grapes or spiked veggies. Very off-kilter.

Clear amber, fizzy head, decent cascades aroma. Could use more body and bitterness, wimpy for an IPA but the flavours are still pleasing.

The "Fred Meyer" version of a microbrew. Not much here to work with, and I don’t really understand the firsetation reference. Bland
