Commercial Description:
Hallertauer hops from the Yakima Valley of Washington State give this English style pale ale its distinctive flavor and hoppiness. A large amount of malted barley is used in the brewing process which gives Chukkar Ale a full, rich body and a relatively high alcohol content.

Nice malt backbone. Far from heavy, but more flavorful than the rest. Hops are discernable in the aroma and flavor. Hop variety is clear, so beer is fresh, but not a hoppy beer by beer geek standards. Tasty.

RBSG thanks for the state Skyview. An aroma of bitter malt, hops, and corn? A nice orangish hewed beer with light head and lace. A flavor of malt dominates, very little hops but there is a tad of a bitter. A bit of a thin palate with little carbonation. A beer that is drinkable but not a special one at all. I would like to try it fresh someday. thanks again

RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Props to Skyview for filling in the South Dakota box! Clear gold with a thin white head. Odd nose - light fruit, sweet malt, butter? Rather light flavor and mouthfeel, fruity, bready with a lemony spice. An odd brew.

Last stop (and final beer) of the return trip during ABA Beer Tour ’07. Sampled on draught at the brewpub restaurant in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a decent off-white head that slowly dissolves and leave behind a good lacing. Aroma of rich caramel malt, candi sugar, some citrus with some grassy hops. Taste is fruity sweet, heavy alcohol, medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavors picked up include caramel malt, light peach and lemon zest. Finish is soft, slightly sweet with a peppery bitter and alcohol burn aftertaste.

Yellow, clear, some golden hues. Very plain, average body; some lemon, with grassy hops. A bit of butter in the aroma? (from growler at RBSG 07).

RBSG 2007: Growler: Poured a clear gold with a white head. Aroma, light fruity notes, some sweet malts. Flavor, bready, yeasty, floral. Soft carbonation, smooth mouth feel. Not bad.
