Black as night appearance with a mocha colored head that sticks around for quite a while. Smokiness presents itself in the flavor as well. Goes down very smooth - had a pint of this after the sampler. Best of my visit to Firehouse. Skyview (4090), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 20, 2007 Last stop of the return trip during ABA Beer Tour ’07. Sampled on draught at the brewpub restaurant in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a light tan head that slowly dissolves and leaves behind a spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted dark malt, rich coffee, a touch of coffee and plenty of earthy and flowery hops. Taste is full bodied with a slight carbonation added with flavors of dark coffee, and bittersweet Bakers cooking chocolate. Finish is creamy, with a dry bitter aftertaste. A solid dark and dry stout. bigcat03 (191), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA
