RBSG 07. A hazy brown pour with a hint of brown head. An aroma of oak and light chocolate. A smooth flavor of chocolate comes through first for me with a hint of the oak. An excellent smooth textured mouthfeel. An excellent offering. Thanks to the lad at kp’s table who allowed me to sample this beer.

RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Hazy brown with no head. Big malty nose, vanilla and light whiskey. Nice soft mouthfeel. Licorice and vanilla flavors over rich chocolaty malt. Good stuff!

Dark brown colored, little light brown head. Oak dominates this sweet aroma with vanilla, hints of alcohol also present, still rather well hidden. Mild licorice in aroma too. Full bodied. Flavor is also strongly oaked with vanilla and biting hops, some sherry tones also present. Strongly sweet aftertaste with also warming alcohol. Excellent!

Bottle. First aroma is smoke and caramel. Taste is mellow which I found odd for a beer this big. The vanilla is there, as the oak has mellowed. Roasty caramel and chewy. Rich without being too sweet. Still a bit hot.

Sampled at the RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting room. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with an average off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, dark pitted fruit and a touch of chocolate. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated, with a sweet and syrupy feel. Finish has a high alcohol feel and sweet aftertaste.

Oh man...I’m not even sure where to start with this one. There is a lot going on here. Fruit, sweet vanilla, chocolate, wood, spice, licorice, molasses...Great palate, really well done.

Bottled. Very dark amber colour with mediumsuized beige head. Aroma has vanilla, raisins, alcohol and a lot of wood in it. Flavour is again raisins, spices, tar, vanilla, wood and some alcohol. Also a lot of salted licorace when warming up a bit. Just lovely. Thanks to omhper for bringing this goodie!

Bottled, thanks cquiroga! Cloudy dark ruby, creamy beige head. Well oaked vanilla aroma. Sweet and very malty, full bodied. Salty and intense with menthe and licorice. Notes of molasses and wood. Fairly bitter finish. Feels exclusiev and refined, but doesn’t quite follow through on the fantastic aroma.
