Bomber poured a clear dark brown nearly black with garnet highlights and a small lingering tan head. Aromas of oak, bourbon, brandy, cherry, tobacco and leather. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, brandy, tobacco, leather, light cherry, light oak and hints of pepper with a smooth warming lingering bittersweet finish. Hides it’s alcohol well.
An absoulutly amazing beer! I wished I had picked up more when it was available.

22 oz bottle. Clear, but dark, brown with a beige ring of bubbles. Nose is quite exotic; raisin, cocoa, peat and orange marmalade. Hot and silky, dense but not heavy. Taste is chocolate caramel, cream of wheat, orange peel and juniper. Lingering mouth buzz. Intense.

Bottle shared by my damn self at cbus 10 sent to me by realale420, thanks brian. Pours a dark brown color wih a smallish tan head. Aroma is huge sweet malts, oak, bourbon, caramel, alcohol. Flavor is more sweet malts, bourbon, oak, caramle, toffee, hint of chocolate, some floral hops. Palate is massive, mildly carbonated, finished on the sweet side and definitely warming. This blew me away!!

Pour was a dark brown with minimal head. Aroma is nice...malty, sweet, oaky and spicy. Flavor. Man this shit is HOT! Pepper, spice, bitterness and a bunch of booze. Mellows as it warms. Body and mouthfeel are decent. Wish I had another to age five or ten years.

650 ml bottle - Columbus X tasting

Thanks to whomever brought this one out. I lost track but when I saw the box it was time to get excited. I’ve been interested in trying it for a while now and it was worth the wait. This is not going to set the world on fire but is well worth tracking down. If only it were not a nebulous "strong ale".

Aroma / Appearance - Caramel, oak and liquer formed a rich and heady texture balanced by bourbon. The nose was smooth and cohesive. The body releasing these wonderful smells was deep brown (almost the color of rusty steel).

Flavor / Palate - Caramel and cedar played against one another before the alcoholic bite kicked in. This is definitely a sipping beer that should be savored even if it were readily available and not a one time release. It’s hard to say how close it is to style but I would compare it favorably to things like Arrogant Bastard. The balanced flavors and smooth mouthfeel make me wish I had a bottle all to myself.

10th Columbus Tasting (Christmas 2007). The pick of the litter from the event. Deep cherry wood in color, light rasot nose, sweet chocolate bourbon in taste-- a smooth and excellent treat.

Bottle shared at Columbus Tasting 10. WOW. What a chaotic blend of flavors! Sweet and malty and strong and hoppy with a ton of alcohol thrown in. Not bad at all, just a lot going on here!

Cloudy deep mahogny colour with a small beige head. Malty, light roasted aroma with fruity sweet notes and hints of hops and alcohol. Malty flavor with some roasted notes and hints of a chocolate sweetness. Light hoppy and alcohol sweet finish.
