Old_Mr_Crow (1046), Seattle, Washington, USA May 25, 2008 Bottle.
Pours a rich brown with a very limited head. Lovely aroma, oak and caramel, vanilla and tannins. Spicy, barrel-driven flavor, vanilla and bourbon, on the sweet side (toffee, caramel), creamy mouthfeel hiding almost all of the alcohol burn that really ought to be there at 11%.
This is a very nice blend. Somehow the components doesn’t quite pull together into the sort of synchronicity that graces the very best beers in the world -- but this is nonetheless a gem and and a delight to have tasted.
Rciesla (897), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle in a trade some time ago. Personally better balanced then the ten. A dark brown body with a tan head. Notes of chocolate bourbon oak sweet malt, brandy, dark fruit raisins vanilla. overall strongly malty beer complex and more enjoyable as it warms then the 10. kkearn (689), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bottle, at Monk’s cafe "World’s Most Expensive Beers w/Stephen Beaumont" dinner March 12, 2008. Poured Deep brown, capped with a moderate sized tan head. Delicious aroma of liquorice, anise, chocolate, raisin, and vanilla. Intense flavor, with chocolate, raisin, oak, alcohol, vanilla and some smoke. Long woody/smoky finish. Amazing Blend. Paired very well with a steak cooked over wood chips. Snojerk321 (1024), San Diego, California, USA Sep 22, 2008 22oz bottle. Been hanging onto this one for a while, finally cracked it. Pours a deep chocolate brown with a 2 finger beige head that dissipated quickly. Amazing aromas of dark fruits, toffee, caramel, chocolate and coffee. Flavor held much of the same with the booze being hidden pretty well for 11%. This beer definitely lived up to all the hype. glkaiser (999), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 14, 2008 Thanks to bitbucket tasting. Light brown w/ thin head. Lots of nutty bourbon, oak and roasted malts with caramel. Good, but too much barrel and not enough beer. sebletitje (404), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 13, 2008 Courtsey of Tony @ OTH.
A very good and rare offering.
Pours clear brown, with white head.
Aroma and taste were very sweet, roasted with caramel. Oaky, leaving a liquor-like aftertaste.
