A subtle hop bitterness lingers on the palate. The floral hops were great and could be more prominent. Would have also liked a little more malt backbone. fiulijn (7400), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Wetherspoon - Shakespear’s Head, London, 7-3-7-3-14=34 Hazy light amber color. Nice hop aroma, midway between Europe and America. It has some caramel flavor, quite sweet, with a nice sweet fruitness from the hop, and not the typical aggressivity or hop resins; red apples come to mind. Very pleasant.
2008-11-04, Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - Shakespear’s Head, London, 6-3-7-3-14=33 Hazy golden color; thin head. Light malt aroma, more pronounced malt flavor; I expected some fruitness from a Californian beer, instead the flavor has a very nice milky side. Correct bitterness. Good. First of all let me say what a let down this was, bought a pint without any question and struggled to finish it. Non assertive with fruity pear, sweet biscuity malt and only the faintest grassy hop hint in the nose. Flavour is again sweet biscuity malt, a bit of fruit salad, juicyfruit gum and slight grassy hop in the finish. We’ve hundreds of bitters like this already and some much better ones at that, I’m blaming Marstons but if you’re coming over here to brew a beer, sort it out... leaparsons (4749), Leicester, Leicestershire, England

Aromas are caramel malts with woody, spicy notes. Sweet grapefruit with hops spices. Flavours are biscuit malts with cream. Bitter grapefruit with yeast and very clean hops. Dry on the finish. Woody on the aftertaste with hints of salt. Likeable. phobos1031 (71), Paradise, Nevada, USA
