From cask at Crystal Palace. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off-white head. Light fruity hops aroma. Slight metallic flavoured yet also with a light sweetness to a solid fruity hoppy base flavour. Subdued malt base. Ends bitter, dry and yet als fruity hoppy.

2008-11-17, Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - Shakespear’s Head, London, 7-3-7-3-14=34
Hazy light amber color. Nice hop aroma, midway between Europe and America. It has some caramel flavor, quite sweet, with a nice sweet fruitness from the hop, and not the typical aggressivity or hop resins; red apples come to mind. Very pleasant.

Hazy golden color; thin head. Light malt aroma, more pronounced malt flavor; I expected some fruitness from a Californian beer, instead the flavor has a very nice milky side. Correct bitterness. Good.

Cask at Crosse Keys JDW. Gold, copper colour, hoppy, but English hoppy aroma, not as big as I expected. Even slightly watery in mouth, bit of ginger hop spice on finish, bit dull really. Not the American Pale Ale, I was really anticipating and looking forward to.

A Mes rate: cask at The Crosse Keys.
I have to say I feel really let down here. Standard golden brown looks with a faint white collar. Mellow fruity aroma with a bit of pineapple and too much apple on top of a fruity malt base. Similarly dull flavour. It’s a bit of a wet lettuce really. Marstons influence is clearly evident. I’m soooo done.

Cask in the cross keys and the new crown. Aroma is sulphury earthyness, theres a decent amount of hops in here, but the mineral character of marstons has managed to ruin it. Taste is actually on the sweetside. No doubt an excellent beer until they decided to brew it at marstons and make it rubbish.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Gold to amber with white head. After the evening we had had around Leamington Spa trying to find decent pubs and beer, I have to say that this stood out like a beacon above the dross. Lightly malted with hints of spicy, lemony hops, sweetish but not overbearing. Really quite subtle and tangy. Pretty decent.

Cask (handpump) at the Crosse Keys (JDW), City of London. Golden colour. Not much head. Touches of fruit but not a lot else. Pleasant enough but a bit underpowered. I expected something a little more distinctive.

Cask @ Pommeller’s Rest, JDW. Bermondsey SE1. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty aroma with some hoppy hints. Fruity malty citrus hoppy flavor. Has a sweetish fruity malty hoppy finish with some hints of citrus in the aftertaste.
