Orange amber pour, light aroma of floral hops. Smooth, sweet taste, a touch of grapefruit with bright crisp finish. I can’t taste much of the barrel. Nice on the palate if a little thin.

Faint aromas of mixed fruits, malts and hops, orange, slightly cloudy with a mild head and carbonation, taste is like a mild ESB, with some mixed candied fruits, toffee and hops. Palate is light, palate is smooth, clean with a lean toward some lingering spice hoppiness. The first time that I had this I was blown away by it’s complexity, not anymore, it’s still a beer I like and an above average, every now and then quaffer.

Quite suprised that I haven’t reviewed this beer yet. I’ve enjoyed it several times in both bottle and on tap. Each time was a very enjoyable beer, but I think I prefer it out of the bottle a bit more.

The beer pours out a rich amber color with a thin one-finger thick head. An aroma of sweet, undefined malts with just a touch of earthy, floral hops. Flavors had a nice caramel-like sweetness combined with smooth finish and a nice bitter swallow. Always a nice beer to go to when the choices are slim.

22 oz. bottle - pours orange-amber and clear; white head quickly fades; aromas of sweet hops, cotton candy; refreshing and crisp; a little on the thin side, but has a nice texture to it; no carbonation with flavors of hops, caramel and sweet malts; not bitterness and a sweet finish; pretty nice

Pours thin and golden. Amber in the glass with a average white head. Nose of construction materials, maybe spackle. Malty taste which is quite good, with mininal hops, OK beer, but not good enough.

One of my groomsman bought a case of this beer in 1997 for my bachelor party in Los Angeles, leaving me with fond memories. Until recently, this beer was almost impossible to get on the east coast, but lately it seems to be getting a national distribution. Pours a light copper color with a modest white head, and smells of malt and caramel. I remember the taste being more evocative 10 years ago, but to be fair there is a lot more fuller-bodied craft beer available now. The finish is definitely crisp and clean, almost biting.

Poured clear brown/amber with a small head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and light fruit. Taste is malty, caramel, and some light hops. Finish was unremarkable, with some light malt and bitterness. Mouth was smooth and lightly carbonated.

Poured from bomber, a clear amber color with a medium head. Aroma of light malt, and fruit. Palate is soft and comforting, and the flavor is mild of fuit, hops, and a soft malty sweetness. Might have tasted some dates in there as well. I would have preferred a more robust flavor, especially for this oft-indescript style.
