Bottle pour. Average but very pleasant nose, slightly metallic with lots of toasted wheat. Consistent color, amber with some red, but the head is disappointing. I really like the well-balanced flavor of this ale: the malt notes are strong but not overwhelming, hops are a bit weak but still present, lots of caramel and toffee notes with toast and just a hint of fruitness. The mouth is just about perfect ... not too light, not too heavy, some pleasant oil sensations with proper carbonation. A solid ale, but it doesn’t take any risks and lacks a truly distinctive character.

Reddish copper color with a thin but solid head. Malts are evident in the aroma, very slight fruit/hops, and if you try real hard, some oakiness. Sweetness is well balanced by the hops, and some vanilla comes through as well. Medium bodied, carbonation died quickly. All in all, kind of disappointing - I expected more from this.

Deep amber, clear, moderate off-white head. Fruit, woody, toffee aroma. Light in the mouth, fresh and fruity, with a very interesting malt character reminiscent of tannic dark tea. Very interesting, very drinkable. Nice!

Medium amber with okay head. Mild malt and hop fusion in the nose, but nothing special. Easy going amber ale/English pale ale. Drinkable with the light presence of alcohol Moderately sweet, but completely uneventful.

Bottle->English pint glass: Pours a large, rocky head that exhibits poor lacing atop of a cloudy, dark amber body. A good amount of carbonation occurs circa the pour. Sweaty aroma, yeast smell, not much other aromas. Taste is mildly hoppy, sticky on the mouth feel, thin texture, not really bitter or sweet, finishes astringent and not a lot going on in my opinion. This beer definitely does not live up to they hype that some people (like the sommelier at my local gourmet wine/liquor/beer store) give it.

Pint at Yardhouse San Diego. Reddish with very little head. Flavors of some nuttiness, and malts. A little touch of fresh cut wood.

Bready and herbal nose with touches of grain and mild earthy hops. Mildly toasted and caramelyzed body with a soft mouthfeel. Mild and clean finish.
