Pours reddish amber, crustal clar, with a persistent off-white head, very nice lacing. Nose is gentle, mild hops, clean sweet malt, very fresh smelling, simple, yet appealing. Flavor is nice and round and malty, light spiciness into the finish. A nice pale. robforbes (1099), Bremerton, Washington, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 21, 2009 In NZ labeled as just "DBA". Looks cooper brown with the faintest haze. Head drops. Aroma is malty English with pineapple. Tastes nutty - chestnuts? and all malty - "Is this a brown ale?" I wondered. Sweet and sludgy with some crazy Coke-ishness midway and a banana cake fudgy aftertaste. The body lets it down with a gentle fizz (again, Coke) and a clingy sludgy end. I’m underwhelmed, though It’s come a long way to get here. Maybe with some strong tasting food. DJMonarch (6845), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Appearance: Amber with a large, frothy, off-white head. Decent head retention.
Aroma: Grassy hops, slight fruitiness, a little cardboard, and honey.
Taste: Caramel, wood, a touch of earth, grass, a little herbal, and a bit of tart astringency.
Palate: Medium, smooth carbonation with a medium, slightly dry mouthfeel. Medium, slightly sour finish.
Overall: A solid ale who’s dryness leaves you wanting for another. Refreshing and sessionable.
Rebuy: Sure. I wouldn’t mind having another one of these. dionysus (109), Arizona, USA
