Commercial Description:
Oaktoberfest is a true German Marzen bier brewed with premium imported Pilsner and Vienna malts and is spiced with Bavarian hop from the mother land. Light Amber in color, soft malty profile, full bodied lager beer. Fermented with the famous Bavarian Augustiner Lager yeast from Munich. We utilized German Hallertauer Traditions for both bittering and aroma additions adding a rich, noble hop presence to this beer.

On tap at Pete’s Brass Rail and Carwash in Danville, CA. It pours gold with thin white head. The aroma is sweet with malts and has a hint of noble hops. The taste is mild and doesn’t come off overly sweet. I get sweet malts balanced somewhat with grainy malts. There’s also a pale maltiness mixed in there too.

Draft @ Pacific Coast Brewing. Pours a clear, tarnished orange color; off-white head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Bland aroma of basic maltiness and no hop character to speak of. Lively, solid carbonation: candy sugar, oranges, touches of lightly syrupy honey; unbalanced, sweet with just a bit of acidity trying to hold things together. Basic, bland Oktoberfest. Medium finish: lasting sweetness, candied oranges, and a light mineral bitterness.

Clear light orange with a fizzy white head. Slightly citrus hops aroma. Sweet malt nicely balanced with a hoppy spicy kick.

On tap at PP San Clemente’s Oktoberfest. Interesting idea, an oak-aged Oktoberfest. AFA the beer goes, it’s nothing special and there was some element of the flavor that I couldn’t quite place, but I didn’t enjoy.

On tap at PP Carlsbad a few weeks back. Color was a rich orange. Aroma of caramel, citrus and crisp malt; a touch bready. Flavor was crisp; caramel, bready and nothing all that special. Expected a bit more.
