This was a nice change of pace at DLD. Had a nice sweet fruitiness to it. It was also on the dry side. I’d drink this one again.

DLD ’08: With the Compunction mystery finally solved... On cask: Pours a dark brown with an off white head. Aroma, dark fruits, caramel, notably prunes. Flavor, dark fruits, sweet malts, brown sugar, almost rich, some slight citrus, and some yeast.

Sampled at DLD 08. Pours dark amber with thick tan head. Aroma is malt, raisens and brown suger. Flavor is sweet malt, brown suger, some figs or raisens and some chocolate. Wish I would have had the Russion River stuff but this wasn’t to bad.

Sample at DLD; due to a line screw up I originally had it rated under RR Compunction. Original rating copied and paste below (Real ale sample at DLD; probably had about a close to a cup of it. Flavor was more sweet than tart for me. Alot of fruit in the flavor; some citrus and berries. Some oakish and wood elements. Palate reminded me a bit of seltzer water. It seems like I was one of the only ones not overly impressed. )

On-tap at O’Brien’s a few weeks back. Smells malty sweet and slightly sour, like sour mash. Looks clearish red/brown, fluffy offwhite head, some lace. Tastes malty sweet, oatmeal, chocolatey but lighter than a stout. There is also a bit of booze flavor on the finish. Smooth, medium body with mellow carb. Tastey and better than Saucerful of Merkin for sure.

On draught as guest beer at Dark Lord Days 2008. Pours a semi-clear coppery amber brew with a creamy beige head that has some good retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some vanilla, raisin a touch of brown sugar and light spice. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, yeast, a touch of brown sugar and raisins with apples. Finish is semi-sweet with some raisin aftertaste at first and then a mild bitterness.
