BBB63 (3667), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 27, 2008 Bottle and served in standard pint glass: Clean coppery golden hue with a fading but lasting frothy head which left very good lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of aromatic, citric, resiny, spicy and leafy hops along with some biscuity pale malts and a hint of chalky yeast esters. The taste is pretty much straight forward hop bitterness and acidity with just a hint of malt in the background. The finish is hop spicy and a bit astringent. There is also a note of the 8% alcohol found within. The mouth feel is aggressive and biting, lively and metallic. A good IPA that delivers on the promise of hop bitterness.
Ale_Drinker (1021), Sunnyvale, California, USA Jun 21, 2008 Pours golden with big lasting head, moderate carbonation. Immediate aromas of those C’s hit the nose with a light sweetness. Strong malt comes across the palate in an attempt to balance the hops. Slightly sweet, full-bodied. Solid. rustychiles (335), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 19, 2008 Pours a nice orange color with a small soapy white head. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt along with a little pine. Taste is hops, malt, pine, and finishes bitter but sweet. Well balanced IPA with a slightly Syrupy mouthfeel. I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Bockyhorsey (1878), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 18, 2008 Bottle. Pine and floral aromas. Copper body with decent head. Decent citrus flavors along with some sugary sweet sapy feel to it. Some dryness on the palate along with bitterness. Good brew. drfabulous (616), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jun 14, 2008 Ordered from South Bay. Yet another excellent, hoppy, floral West Coast IPA that costs us sorry ass Midwesterners a little more than California natives to buy. Such is the price for good beer. We’ll survive. We wont’ get to drink it as much, we’ll spend a little more to drink it, but we’ll enjoy it just as much. Damn good IPA. Glouglouburp (1829), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 9, 2008 In short: A well balanced IPA. Foresty with fruity notes. Tasty and refreshing.
How: Bottle 12oz, probably very fresh (consumed 2 days after receiving it from cloudyskipper). Thanks a lot Chris for this kick-ass IPA I didn’t even know existed
The look: Clear dark golden body with a medium beige head
In long: Strong nose of pine-cone juice and some orange. This is a crisp IPA. Caramel and honey perfectly balanced by a rather nice hop profile. Conifer branches and pine-cone juice upfront backed up by tangerines and orange peels. Sharp bitterness, long finish. One of the two few tasty American IPAs that do not try too hard to go over the top. As tasty as it is refreshing. I never thought I would ever have respect for the Union Jack but here we go, God save the Queen… that f***in bitch.
