cathcacr (586), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 8, 2009 #586 (Frank Robinson) A somewhat "plain and simple" example of a favorite style, so it’s pretty good. Mild semi-sweetened chocolate flavor, silky body, nice head retention. Not much aroma to speak of.
tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Nov 7, 2009 Picked up at Lee’s Discount Liquor while in Vegas. Dark brown pour with a quickly disappearing tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, and vanilla. Great mouthfeel with a nice hop background to compliment the roasty malt flavor. Finishes slightly chalky. cmonster (73), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 5, 2009 Bomber served in a Guinness glass. Cola pour that turns darker in the glass. Lovely light tan head with good lacing. Aroma isn’t too complex. Faint chocolate, oatmeal, and hops. Medium body, prickly carbonation. Flavor is roasted malts, but I’m not getting a lot more. Bitter and lengthy finish. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Nov 5, 2009 On tap at Monk’s Kettle in SF. Pours darkest brown with a one-finger beige head and good lacing. Aroma is a nice blend of malts - chocolate, pale, and caramel - along with roast and coffee. Flavor is roasted malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate, oak, vanilla, oatmeal, and Noble hops. Medium body with some oatmeal smoothness yet also a very slight astringent note. Solid porter overall. mrhoppy (209), Santa Clara, California, USA Sep 5, 2009 Better than average porter. Not as out standing as I hoped.
MrChopin (621), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2009 Bottle thanks to Zinister! Dark, near-black body, creamy beige head. Lots of fruit in the nose, also some cocoa and malt. Creamy body, some chocolate and heavy roasted malt through the robust finish. Nice balance, very drinkable, good all around. Lubiere (4464), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 27, 2009 A hazed dark brown porter with a thin off white head. In aroma, light chocolate and floral hops. In mouth, a nutty chocolate, herbs, and hoppy porter, notes of butterscotch, medium bodied. On tap at Russian River Beer and BBQ Revival, August 15 2009. AtlAggie (131), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 15, 2009 Pours deep rich brown (amber highlights) with a nice foamy tan head. Aroma of molasses, brown sugar, hints of smoke, choloclate, and soy. Dark roasted malts dominate flavors, coffee, slight smoke, slight chocolate, with a slight roast bitter finish. Fairly smooth mouthfeel. Nice porter.
