Commercial Description:
A singularly distinctive beer that represents our finest brewing efforts, Walker’s Reserve is an elegant dark ale featuring robust flavors of espresso, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. This wood-conditioned brew employs five specialty malts along with smooth silky oats for added complexity and flavor. Gentle English Goldings and spicy American Cascade hops together lend a perfect finish to this big, bittersweet ale. Somewhere between porter and stout, this unfiltered and bottle-conditioned beer is produced in small batches for the true connoisseur.

Verrrry dark and luscious, a very smooth, dry porter. Not tremendously complex but certainly worth a try.

Aroma of roasted malt with coffee notes. Dark brown black with a thin brown head. Thin beer, very few fingers. Pretty balanced beer, nice carbonation.. hops, mocha, coffee, roasted malt.

Pours a very dark chestnut brown. Slightly translucent when backlit. The khaki colored head is large and foamy, slowly settling to a murky layer with a prominent rim. Abstract, organic looking sheets of delicate lace coat the glass well. The aroma is chocolaty, lightly roasted, and surprisingly lactic. The creaminess in the nose just shouts "smooth", and it is a perfect compliment to the soft, velvety chocolate notes. Proving the nose true, the first sip confirms the creamy, silky chocolate and caramel flavor. A hint of espresso resides somewhere deep within, just enough to lend is signature roasted character, but not enough to overpower. A light, earthy hop bitterness reveals itself on the back end, adding just the right level of balance to this fantastic brew. The mouthfeel is medium-full and creamy smooth. This is quite possibly the easiest drinking porter I have ever had. Just awesome, from start to finish. This couldn’t possibly be any more balanced.

Dark black body with a medium frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, light chocolate, some caramel, and a hint of fruitiness. Roasted malt, light chocolate, and caramel flavor. Moderate hop bitterness in the background that lingers. Medium creamy body with moderate carbonation.

22oz bottle, Poured a clear dark brown with a red tint and light tan head. Aroma of very roasted malt, chocolate and some fruitiness. Roasted malt flavor with a moderate long lasting bitterness for the finish. Semi-dry. Thins out on the finish.

A nice porter with dark roasted malts and nice oak notes too. Some vanilla, wood, and earth round out the usual porter flavors. Very smooth and creamy. Good.

Sampled out of a 22. Very nice brew. Not too much flavor to it but it goes down incredibly smooth. Pours nice with a little bit of head that quickly goes away. Very dark and creamy. A very nice brew.

On tap at brewpub in Buellton. I was anticipating a bigger bolder beer (based in reviews) than what I tasted. It just seemed like a straight down the middle porter that was a little fizzy. I would have it again, but would not need to seek it out to satisfy a craving. I followed it with their Oatmeal Stout which was better. (I wanted their Union Jack IPA but it was not on).
