Commercial Description:
A singularly distinctive beer that represents our finest brewing efforts, Walker’s Reserve is an elegant dark ale featuring robust flavors of espresso, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. This wood-conditioned brew employs five specialty malts along with smooth silky oats for added complexity and flavor. Gentle English Goldings and spicy American Cascade hops together lend a perfect finish to this big, bittersweet ale. Somewhere between porter and stout, this unfiltered and bottle-conditioned beer is produced in small batches for the true connoisseur.

Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Smells of roasted malt, some caramel, hints of spice. Tastes spicy with some hints of caramel. Watery mouthfeel. Finish yields some basic sweet malt.

Pours dark brown with a medium head. In the glass it’s just slightly opaque, with a little burgundy highlites showing through when held up to the light. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and dark malts with a fair amount of (sour) fruit; plums and cherries. Medium-heavy body. Semi-sweet fruity finish.

650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a deep dark, almost opaque, brown color with a big tan head. The head lasts the duration of the drink and never completely fades away. The aroma is medium-light and slightly sweet with dates, raisins and plums. The flavor is a bit subdued and is characterized by burnt toast, coffee, chocolate malt and earth. The mouthfeel is very full and creamy. The finish is long in duration with lingering mocha coffee flavors and a heavy malt palate. Overall: This is a better than average porter, very malty, but I can not help but feel that the barrel aging mellowed this one just a bit too much and took away its big bold edge. Recommended.

On tap @ the Stone World Bistro. Pours deep amber brown with thin tan head. The aroma is roasty and mildly sweet and doesn’t seem to have a hint of the burnt malts I come to expect from a Porter but abundantly present I the flavor. The taste if full rich malt roastiness that steers toward being burnt and charred. The flavor blends from roasty to burnt from front to back of the experience. Full flavored Porter that includes mild molasses and a hint of pine hops.

Bottled. Transparent dark brown and maroon edges with little head, mostly just mircobubbles and fizz. Sweet chocolate and oat mostly in the aroma, along with creamed coffee and a slight hint of the barrel. Flavors lean towards the sweeter end with sugary burnt caramel, dates, and smoke. Subtle barrel-aging influence holds it together pretty well. Not mind-blowing though; but the average score was tuned right for this brew in my opinion. Good beer.

Poured black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Taste of coffee, caramel, and a little roastyness with a very slight hop taste. Good porter.

Poured a dark translucent brown with minimal head. Smell was of distant milk chocolate. Taste was fairly reserved, milk chocolate, Roasty, creamy and smooth. This one was easy drinking and enjoyable.
