Commercial Description:
A singularly distinctive beer that represents our finest brewing efforts, Walker’s Reserve is an elegant dark ale featuring robust flavors of espresso, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. This wood-conditioned brew employs five specialty malts along with smooth silky oats for added complexity and flavor. Gentle English Goldings and spicy American Cascade hops together lend a perfect finish to this big, bittersweet ale. Somewhere between porter and stout, this unfiltered and bottle-conditioned beer is produced in small batches for the true connoisseur.

Pretty nice and easy tastey brew. Aroma of dark and roasted malts and some light coffee. Taste is sweet from coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Pretty smooth overall.

YEHA, very dark brown with some ruby highlights at the bottom of the glass. Aroma is chocolate, with light notes of ashy black patent. Taste is mildly roasty, with chocolate and light caramel sweetness. Light to medium bodied. Finished with light roast, and a mild hop bitterness.

Tan soapy head with a coal black color. Rasoted malts and caramel in the aroma. Bourbon, espresso, and roasted malts make up the flavor. A bit unbalanced to be a favorite porter of mine.

Madness@the Moose YEHA. Bottle provided by Jasonmech, thanks. Black body with a tan head. Aroma is lightly hoppy and faintly roasty. It is a very easy drinking porter with light cocoa sweetness. It’s not heavy on any chocolate or roast with light hops. A well balanced light porter.

On tap at Stone Brewing. A bit of malt on the nose. Black pour with creamy tan head and lace. A bit of a bready flavor and dry with a bit of a cloying after taste and a very good smooth easy light bitter. Carbonation is a bit agressive and palate is a bit thin. Overall good porther thate suffered some from the porter I had before it.

Deep, dark brown color. Creamed-coffee nose. Texture was light and smooth; carbonation livened up toward the finish. Many flavors swirled about, such as roasted grains, caramel, sweetened coffee and milk chocolate. Hop aromas followed nicely and melded well, but the bitterness didn’t seem to keep up. Overall, I thought it was a good beer, but it was a bit too sweet for my buds.

Thanks to drmatt (I think) for sharing this porter. Pours very dark brown with a crimson hue and soapy tan head. The aroma has light coffee, dark vanilla, milk chocolate and some oak. Medium / smooth body with a small amount of carbonation. The flavor starts with the aroma qualities and has a spritziness to the taste. The finish brings out a bit of bitterness. A nicely crafted porter.

Bottled, consumed on 11/18/07. Pours a lovely dark brown with adequate carbonation, making for a light brown head that quickly subsides. Dark malty aroma that reveals the identity of this "dark ale" as a porter. Smooth mouthfeel accompanies the mocha flavor. Subtle citric sourness finishes the flavor which lingers briefly on the tongue with a hint of bitterness. Very nice.
