Commercial Description:
A singularly distinctive beer that represents our finest brewing efforts, Walker’s Reserve is an elegant dark ale featuring robust flavors of espresso, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. This wood-conditioned brew employs five specialty malts along with smooth silky oats for added complexity and flavor. Gentle English Goldings and spicy American Cascade hops together lend a perfect finish to this big, bittersweet ale. Somewhere between porter and stout, this unfiltered and bottle-conditioned beer is produced in small batches for the true connoisseur.

Bottle thanks to Zinister!
Dark, near-black body, creamy beige head. Lots of fruit in the nose, also some cocoa and malt. Creamy body, some chocolate and heavy roasted malt through the robust finish. Nice balance, very drinkable, good all around.

A hazed dark brown porter with a thin off white head. In aroma, light chocolate and floral hops. In mouth, a nutty chocolate, herbs, and hoppy porter, notes of butterscotch, medium bodied. On tap at Russian River Beer and BBQ Revival, August 15 2009.

Pours deep rich brown (amber highlights) with a nice foamy tan head. Aroma of molasses, brown sugar, hints of smoke, choloclate, and soy. Dark roasted malts dominate flavors, coffee, slight smoke, slight chocolate, with a slight roast bitter finish. Fairly smooth mouthfeel. Nice porter.

Pours an almost clear dark brown with very thick tan head, lots of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, oats, chocolate, caramel, very light coffee, and even lighter dried fruits. Flavor matched well with the addition of some spices. As I drank this bottle, I couldn’t figure out how to describe a character of it, but I realized after seeing other ratings that it could be described as chalky. Lacks the complexity of elite porters, but is drinkable and enjoyable.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of roasted malts, slight chocolate, light wood, and a hint of coffee. Poured brown in color with a medium-sized, dense, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, slight coffee, slight wood, slight vanilla, and a hint of caramel. Medium body. Slightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt, and slight chocolate finish is slightly dry and slightly sticky.

A dark brown beer with little head. Aroma was chocolate, roasted malt. The body was thin yet the mouthfeel was creamy which I could not understand how that works. Taste was cream, chocolate, little coffee, roasty, slightly bitter. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours black with a large, fizzy brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, toffee, chocolate), light hop (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of smoke, plum, prune, and oak. Full bodied, gritty texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness and bitterness, light acidity.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Black color. Light roasted malt aroma, very lightly cheesy. Medium body, but quite smooth; per se the flavor is not impressive, with just some roasted malt, but it has a quite good harmony and a light creamy impression. Quite good.
