Commercial Description:
A singularly distinctive beer that represents our finest brewing efforts, Walker’s Reserve is an elegant dark ale featuring robust flavors of espresso, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. This wood-conditioned brew employs five specialty malts along with smooth silky oats for added complexity and flavor. Gentle English Goldings and spicy American Cascade hops together lend a perfect finish to this big, bittersweet ale. Somewhere between porter and stout, this unfiltered and bottle-conditioned beer is produced in small batches for the true connoisseur.

Deep reddish brown, plentiful long-lasting light brown head. Aroma is quite unique - dark chocolate, winey, sort of salty, woody in a forest after the rain kind of way. Not overbearing woodiness like many other barrel-aged disasters. Flavor is rich, creamy coffee and chocolate with a bit of a grainy twang at the end. Finish is perhaps a tad thin. Very well crafted, but not extremely exciting.

Aroma of darkly roasted malt, and some coffee and chocolate. Dark brown/black color with a beige/tan head that laces. Full mouthfeel. Starts with chocolate, followed by coffee, and then some really dark roasted malt. Smooth, but not quite creamy. The finish is dry and there is enough bitter to make it worthwhile.

22 oz bottle. Pours to a deep brown, to black color, with a soapy, white head, and a soft to moderate carbonation. The nose is nice, with some aromas of dark chocolate, mild roast, coffee, and light hints of oak. The plate is soft, with good flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, and mild roasty flavors. This beer finishes with more dark chocolate and coffee notes up front, then ends with some mildly roasty, dry, and slightly oaky. Well done example of porter. Very drinkable, enjoyable beer, perfect for a session with some ice cold oysters.

Bottle. Dark, murky brackish brown to near black opaque body with only small spots of tan foam on the surface. Nose is chocolaty, very roasty, dark malts, and coffee. Taste leans more towards sweet than bitter. Dark chocolate, oily dark coffee, roasted malts, and light burnt or charred notes. Body is creamy and smooth. Medium overall feel but the carbonation is a little more than average pushing it towards fizzy in spots. Finishes with a stronger coffee presence, more roasted malts, and a bittersweet dark chocolate splash. Very nice!

It took me a while to get the hard foil off this bomber! When I finally got it open, it poured a rich dark ruddy brown with a firm head with a marshmellowy consistency. The aroma is dessert-like, sugary and sweet, full and rich. The flavor lives up to the promise; this is a nicely rich beer ... bittersweet chocolate, a hint of java, and maybe just a tease of a hoppy bite. Perfect for this chilly Spring evening after dinner. Pours a deep brown, actually quite black, with a creamy tan head. Purdy. Aroma is faintly of milk chocolate. Flavors are subtle, restrained, and refined. Chocolate, a hint of coffee, and just a hint of woodsiness on the finish, barely perceptible until it warmed considerably. Smooth on the palate. Not big, but elegant. Quite lovely.

(22oz bottle) Large tan head atop brown-black body. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, some roast, chocolate, light oak. Taste is medium sweet, floral/grapefruit, some chocolate, light cinnamon. Creamy light-medium body, very drinkable.
