Commercial Description:
A singularly distinctive beer that represents our finest brewing efforts, Walker’s Reserve is an elegant dark ale featuring robust flavors of espresso, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. This wood-conditioned brew employs five specialty malts along with smooth silky oats for added complexity and flavor. Gentle English Goldings and spicy American Cascade hops together lend a perfect finish to this big, bittersweet ale. Somewhere between porter and stout, this unfiltered and bottle-conditioned beer is produced in small batches for the true connoisseur.

Aroma = roasted notes and slight oakiness Appearance = Dark brown to black Flavor = Really great, Oakiness is subtle and smooth and well with in balance, roasted and low toastiness with some dark carmel Palate = medium Full Overall = Super beer! I really like the light balance of oak and smooth not acidic roastiness. For a bigger beer you can drink continuously. Great job

22oz bottle. Aroma: roasted malt, coffee, oak, light smokiness and dark fruits. A little bit of oxidation, too. Appearance: Dark brown in color with small red highlights. Head was medium khaki, full and foamy with great retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Nice roastiness with some coffee and smoke. Oak and light vanilla. Some light pine and citrus from the hops with a good hop bitterness. Again, a little oxidation creeps in. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Not a bad stout. Enjoyed the subtle woodiness from the barrel ageing.

Super yummy from the get-go. It’s been a while since I had a really good porter (I’d fallen into a quite enjoyable IPA/Imperial IPA rut/bliss). The aroma is natural porter chocolate/coffee. Really dark, with a strong light you can see the dark brown/mahogany tones at the edges. Frothy head; milkshake-like. Tastes like it smells, delicious (in the flavor I picked up more of the oak barrel influence, often incorporated by Firestone, than in the aroma). smooth aftertaste. Firestone is a fantastic brewery that keeps pleasing. If you see this beer buy it! 22 oz. Pasadena, CA, USA.

22oz bottle poured dark brown color with a nice tan head. Aroma was typical porter with some oak and some oats. Taste was very nicely balanced yet complex with all the malts and oak flavors. Could be one of the best from Firestone.

Aroma has a slight dark fruit component that shines through despite the powerful oak and vanilla aromas. Poured out with a very thin, tan head that dissipated rather quickly, settling on top of a chestnut body with ruby highlights. Roasted malts are very buttery and slippery on the tongue. Enjoyable and pleasantly soft.

Quick thankyou to Kook for lobbing this one back from the U.S., amongst others. Served up at backyard patio temperature at a small tasting here in Perth.
Deep, shimmering, ruddy brown with not much of a head though by this time my flute glass was all gammed up. Deep, woody, dusty and gritty, lightly roasted malt nose with a nice, dry, peanut butter edge. Very pleasant. Medium-light bodied and smooth as silk. Quite dry, and again dusty overall. Light roasted coffee, complex malts and bitter, dry chocolate on the swallow. Nice show of wood age inside the swallow and aftertaste. Good reserve of grit, burnt sugar and dry roasted grains also. Quite a nice drop, though not on the intense side of things. A relaxing beer, nicely made. (1 pint, 6Fl.Oz, age unknown)

Bottle.

Pours deep brown with a nice dark-tan head. A mellow blend of chocolate roastiness and soft red wine notes, slightly chalky on the finish. This is a perfectly nice porter, well balanced, no glaring flaws -- but for me it was just too cautious of a beer. It lacked the spark of personality that would have taken it to the next level. That said, I’m quite happy drinking this stuff! One could do a heck of a lot worse.

(Bottle) Pours a dark brown/mahogany body with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma of chocolate, lactos, and roasted malt. Flavor of chocolate, vinous, and caramel.
