Commercial Description:
A singularly distinctive beer that represents our finest brewing efforts, Walker’s Reserve is an elegant dark ale featuring robust flavors of espresso, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. This wood-conditioned brew employs five specialty malts along with smooth silky oats for added complexity and flavor. Gentle English Goldings and spicy American Cascade hops together lend a perfect finish to this big, bittersweet ale. Somewhere between porter and stout, this unfiltered and bottle-conditioned beer is produced in small batches for the true connoisseur.

Proper appearance for the style, light cocoa and fruity malt aroma. A decent porter, lighter body than I like and not as complex and a bit too subdued. Overrated IMO.

22 oz. bottle from BevMo in Walnut Creek. Pours black with the faintest mahogany tint when held to light and a large tan head. Mild, roasty aroma, herbal hops and coffee. Sweet and roasty, bitter chocolate, herbal and somewhat milky with coffee in the finish. Medium body, somwhat foamy carbonation. Enjoyable Porter.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & Dave B. -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown with reddish hues and an average size foamy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla and mild smoke -- smells great! Roasty flavour of sweet malt, coffee, chocolate, a bitter finish and some oak as the beer warms. Though pretty tasty, the flavour’s not quite on the level of the aroma, it’s a little light and needs to be more flavourful. Despite that, it’s very smooth, goes down very easy and is a pretty enjoyable Porter.

Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy and Dave B, my bottle. Poured opaque dark brown with ruby highlights and a large light brown foamy head. Subtle rich roasty aroma - chocolate, coffee beans, pine nuts, with plenty of lightly resiny grassy hops, some lactic and smoke notes. Light flavour, milk chocolate, mocha, hints of cherry and raisins, plenty of dry hops in the longish bitter finish. Somewhat light bodied, a little acidic and not much carbonation. Nice, but not sock-knocking-off - did get smokier and hoppier as it warmed.

This is a dark beer that’s smooth and goes down easy. The aroma is dominated by malts and caramels. The taste is that of malts with a slight hint of chocolate complimented by that firestone spicy finish. So far this is my favorite porter to date.

Poured a clear dark brown with a red tint and light tan head. Aroma of very roasted malt, chocolate and some fruitiness. Roasted malt flavor with a moderate long lasting bitterness for the finish. Semi-dry. Thins out on the finish.

Large brown head of very small bubbles. Very dense head that is nice and creamy on top. Light carbonation. Roasty aroma with a bit of smoke, saw dust and a hint of sweetness. Color is esentially black. Smooth and creamy in the mouth and goes down really easy. Nice bitterness with dark chocolate, roasted grains and a touch of coffee. Dry palate. Light bodied for a porter but very tasty. Finish is dry and a little bitter with a lingering roastyness. A very good porter.

22oz bottle pours dark brown with a fair tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and a bit of hops. Flavor is mostly chocolate and roasty malts. A touch of coffee and a fair amount of hops on the finish. Palate is smooth and cola-like. Very drinkable and a fair porter. I enjoyed it..
