S- Lighter aroma of coffee and chocolate, some slight alcohol in the background
T- Well-balanced porter with initial taste of coffee and chocolate, some oak tones and dry, bitter aftertaste with hints of grass/earthiness
M- Light/medium-bodied, watery and creamy texture, adequate carbonation
D- At 5.9%abv, this is a smooth drinking porter, this is a good, but not great, choice that does little to stand out in this genre BrewDad (2370), Olympia, Washington, USA

Great aroma with tons of coffee and chocolate. Loves the dark malt it is roasty and very tasty. This is a very easy Robust porter to drink. A wonderful porter this beer drinks very smooth, dry and finish with an awesome flavor in the mouth.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jan 31, 2009 22oz thanks to Hophead22. Pours dark brown with little to no head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, light hops, and some roasted malt. Nothing crazy though. Flavors again with sweet malt up front, chocolate, coffee, and a touch of hops. Palate was a little thin. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 28, 2009 Bottle. Poured a deep brown/black color with a moderate off-white head that faded to a ring. Aroma of light chocolate, moderate roast, some light coffee, and a bit of chalk. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some hints of chocolate leading into a smooth, faint hop bitterness with some light undertones of chalkiness and roasted coffee. Moderate carbonation, but a bit thin on the palate. It tasted decent and was easy to drink, but it did not possess and characteristics to set it apart from other porters. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2009 Dayum - this is good! Sweet and chocolatey. Rich and foamy. Pours black with a nice lace of tan head. Flavor is liquid chocolate, with a touch of smoke. Some notes of vanilla in there as well. Crosling (1855), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Dark brown color, bordering on black. Stale dark malt aroma, with notes of mild coffee and chocolate. Flavor is very light and mild, with light notes of cocoa and vanilla. Unfortunately, it tastes and smells dead, in spite of it being unfiltered and bottle conditioned. This thin bodied effort is a major disappointment. blutt59 (2153), Dallas, Texas, USA
