Very full and well balanced aroma of hop, malt, fruit and nut - like a barley wine. Bitter hoppy and fruity flavor with orange and clementine notes. Good sweetness with a very bitter end. Nutty hints alo. An excellent beer! madsberg (4966), Søborg, Denmark

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2005 a copper color w/ a small off white head ok lacing. Big crisp citrus and grass hops and a big sweet malt in the aroma once through that a little woody and a twinge of some alcohol and even maybe a bit of raisens. The palate is very rich and creamy nicely coated and some ok carbonation. The flavor definatelly has a great dry hop i’m assuming the mixture of the 10 hops is the reason I can’t recognize any of them. Theres a great big malt backbone and hints of what feels like a port in the finish so a bit of alcohol shows through as well. Overall a very good beer. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 6, 2005 Updated: Jul 21, 2006Thanks Chuck! The aroma is VERY hopped with a good amount of tannins. Grass, citrus, caramel, spice, Amarillo hops. Awesome looking red body with a non-existent head. The flavor is very malty and has a strawberry hop characteristic to it. There’s also a ton of oakiness muskmellon with black pepper flavor. The palate has a dry chalkiness to it. Tried on 6/6/2005. 9, 3, 9, 3, 16 = 4.0
I opened a cellared bottle on 7/21/2006 (notched as spawned on Jan.). The beer poured to a nice red body with a lasting medium off-white rocky head. Nice lacing. The aroma is malty and deep with a lot of unique hop aromas, wood, tannins, floral, pine. The flavor is nicely piney, malty, peppery, woodsy floral hops. Light melon. Pretty certain this is the original batch I had. I was unaware that this was bottled into 22 oz’ers... Either way, the palate is spot on with a very rich creamy feel. Very nice. Quite delectable. Either this beer has gotten better, or I’ve gotten crazier. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2005 Bottle. Deep amber colored. Slight beige head. No lacing. Oak and alcohol with hop. Medium bodied. Oaken and boozy flavors. Lots of hop presence and malt. Everything fades away in the finish leaving a lot of wanting. Still a nice beer however. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2005 Opened on 3/19. Oak aging comes through more than any hops at this point. Almost adds a Belgian funkiness to the mix. Hops are almost gone at this point. Very drinkable, does not show the 10% at all. I think barrel aging should be reserved for stouts honestly, but this one does well.
