| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2005 Cloudy brown colour with aroma of plums and licorice and some floral hoppiness hidden in the background. Body is oily and full-bodied with a very strong bitterness, kind of a hodepodge of hops. VTHopHead (928), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 13, 2005 Bottle - Poured a murky reddish-brown with a very small off-white head that quickly evaporated. Aroma is of spicy and citrus hops with more than a hint of the alcohol to come. Flavor is strong of spicy hops, bitter and has an alcohol "haze". Finish is fairly clean and hoppy with a lingering bitterness. A good beer, but not as distinctive as I had hoped for. Well worth repeating though, if I get the chance... | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2005 12 oz bottle. Rich orange coloured beer with a thin white head. Sweet biscuity malt, caramel, toffee and some cookie dough. Flavour is hoppy and bitter but without any lending any distinctive character. This isn’t a bad beer, but it’s not a great one either... doesn’t really know what it wants to be. Oakes (8114), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 13, 2005 Golden-amber coloured. Spicy, minty aroma with hints of toffee. The flavour has a lot of elements - toasty, bitter, woody, hints of caramel. But having a lot of things going on doesn’t matter if they don’t work together. Throwing a bunch of stuff in the kettle is not the path to great beer, which is a shame because some of Fish’s other beers show that they know this. brewshthereen (316), Oregon, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2005 Complex nose of hard fruit, toffee, alcohol, and flowery hops. Big and rich mouthfeel. Tea, toffee, carmel and fruity bitterness for flavors. Alcohol spiciness at the finish. Hearty beer, and darn good too. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 1, 2005 Big thanks to footbalm for this one. Pours deep ruby/copper with off-white head. The alcohol is present in the aroma and taste. The aroma is big hops, malty, black pepper, fruit (honeydew, grapefruit, berries). The taste is extremely hoppy and extremely fruity/berryish with citrus fruits and watermelon, honetdew, and strawberry. Smooth, hoppy palate. A marvelous beer, that only loses a few points due to some alcohol presence and astringency at the finish. I wanted to give this a 5.0, but it didn’t match up with Dreadnaught and Devil Dancer. Still, one of the best Impy IPAs I’ve had, and you should seek this out with extreme prejudice! brewbandit (312), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 15, 2005 A bit overdue but here goes. A nice malty strong hop aroma with hint of oak. Rich malty light brown body with definite hop solidarity. Good job! ARMed (486), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jan 22, 2005 The head is very poor. It is a highly viscous beer with no lacing. Thick and chewy. Strong bodies and very powerful. Too much alcohol for me to finsih the entire beer. Not my taste of beer.
