Aromas if alcohola, brown sugar and wine.. Flavors of the same with a medium bodied mouthfeel. Oak, pine and a decent bitterness.. As others have stated, this could pass as a good barleywine, but is still a very nice IIPA> whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2004 Reddish brown body and soapy head. Intoxicating and complex aroma suggests a barley wine. Very herbal, woody and alcoholic with hints of citrus and blackberries. Flavor is oaky plus some berries, wine, and gasoline. Less residual sugar in a barrel aged beer like this would make this exquisite. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2004 Pours a light brown with a thin head. Boig malty aroma that is of iced tea. Sweet malty taste, a little brown sugar and a mild alcohol bite. Tasty but damn strong. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 5, 2004 #700! 12oz bottle-pours a cloudy apricot hue with lots of sediment, even at first pour. no head to speak of. malty aroma with slightly sweet citrus notes. this may have been more hoppy when it was fresh-i dont know. The oak barrel aging comes out and rounds both the aroma and flavors. This doesnt smell like your normal IIPA! I quote mromero548-Iced Tea! Very nice balance of nice caramel toasted malts and some citrus hops, but not the hoppyness you would usually find in a IIPA. 100IBU’s? NO WAY!!! very nice and balanced brew that borderlines a barleywine. the 10%abv is not noticible in the flavors whatsoever! For the night, it was probably my fav brew and glad to have it for my 700th! Silphium (2144), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2004 Piney hops and plenty of toasty, cerealy malt comprise the aroma. Flavor is a rich medley of piney, citrusy, spicy West Coast hops and layered caramel, toast and dark fruit. I’m not really picking up any oak barrel flavors. The body is deep copper with a thin light tan head. This is a very good, chewy example of the style. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA

Aroma is very malty with a great hop backing. Slight alcohol taste but very good malty taste with a decent bitter end. Very well balanced beer for 10 percent. Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA
