ChiefTNT (3), USA does not count Aug 12, 2006 I’ll agree that although it’s not “outstanding” it’s a refreshing beer that’s not pretentious or obnoxious. It has a little aftertaste, not heady, and could be a little more refined, but overall, a good beer when it’s over a C-note outside. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 5, 2006 Bottle. Aroma had a decent lemon and burnt toast to it. Gold body with small white creamy head. Flavor a spicey up front with the lemon and some vanilla. Last swig left a vanilla malt aftertaste. Not overly bitter but some noticable. Decent brew and refreshing. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Apr 24, 2006 Bottle with Poperinge. Orange-gold. Thin skiff. Soft warm orange and vanilla flavour. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Apr 19, 2006 [Taster – Portland Oregon, Spring Beer Festival]
A golden yellow color, nice head and a great aroma. I liked this beer. The flavors where complex and the rye to me added to the flavor. Really liked how it finished leaving me to want more. Great beer for the summer.
harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Apr 3, 2006 Very present rye bread in the aroma, that completely ruins the flavor profile, I would not ever think of making this type of beer with an addition of rye. A very present alcohol weight, honey and just a hint of herbal hoppiness. cperry8483 (41), Platteville, Wisconsin, USA Feb 20, 2006 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Hazy amber hue with a big white head that doesn’t last long. Smells like burning! Like Dorwart said, very charcoaly and burnt tasting, with an alcohol flavor present as well as minimal hops. Not very good, and I wouldn’t recommend this or try it again. glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 6, 2006 Updated: Apr 10, 200812oz bottle. Not quite clear golden with medium head that sticks around. Almost non-existent aroma; a little malt sweetness. Taste is smooth with some ester sweetness. Slow, lightly bitter finish. Not a big fan. But, at 4% this packs in at least a little taste. 4%? My god. Now that’s a light beer. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Feb 4, 2006 Very large off-white head of dense bubbles. Great carbonation. Crisp, citrusy aroma with lemon, dry grass, hops and a bit of dustyness. Color is a medium golden orange. Light dry flavor with a very large helping of charcoal. Very strange. Dry smokey ash. Chalky. Some hops and a little more citrus but really overwealmed by the charcoal. Finish is dry and puckering with some sourness and bitterness. A very strange brew and not one that appeals to me very greatly.
