Smell gives some wheat, caramel, raisins, soy, and fruit on smell. Watery mouth with not much carbonation. Raisins and lager on finish. Sweet. Salty roast. Not much hops. DigitalMan (119), Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Good dark color and very nice, sweet, almost fruity aroma. Chocolate and a hint of coffee. Malty with some noticeable alcohol. Would be better a bit maltier and less bitter, but still not bad. 2008 bottle says 10% ABV. lithy (1800), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Very dark brown body, with a frothy off white head that was thick and creamy with moderate retention. A very light hops aroma combined with coffee and chocolate makes for a pleasant aroma, but was very mild. The flavor consisted of a mild baker’s chocolate and roasted malts. There was a slight warming alcohol and a touch of hops in the finish. Enjoyed this beer a lot the taste was not overpowering like I feared it would be, and in my opinion they hit the style right on. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Poured a decent tan head overtop a very dark brown beer. Aroma is ok, maybe. Sure there is lots, but it just didn’t appeal to me. Slighty spicy hops, warm toasted malts - needs a hell of a lot more malts. Some sweet malt, a bit tangy and obvious powerful spice - way way to much to enjoy in this style. Way too many hops. Mouthfeel is fairty smooth. You can feel the alcohol burn deep down. Hoppy aftertaste. I actually enjoyed the beer despite the review. jrob21 (1275), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2009 Yeah this one was tasty. Nutty and smoky aroma. Left a creamy brown head the entire length of the beer which lent the texture its creaminess as well. A bit of a smoky malt flavor and some dark malt flavors as well. The finish had just the right touch of bitterness to give a little more character to this guy. BeerandBlues2 (3230), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 15, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small, rocky, off-white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, nutty, caramel), average hop (perfume, herbs), heavy yeast (dough, leather) with notes of figs, plum, and brown sugar. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.
