Salty and peppery at the same time, this avoids excessive sweetness with woody elements, and a good dollop of softening unfiltered yeast. A bit bready, winey and salty at the finish when fully warm. Quite good! Thanks to Andre! acertain (249), Seattle, Washington, USA

The aroma is somewhat light with notes of wood, caramel, and alcohol, on a sweet background. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits and light notes of alcohol. Nice. zug4abby (287), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Nov 1, 2005 Thanks HairoftheDog! Pours a very dark red/brown color with no head and no lacing. Aroma is full of chocolate and roasted malts with a slight alcohol undertone. Flavor is very similar, lots of roastiness and warm (borderline hot). Kind of nutty in the aftertaste. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2005 Deep dark brown, short off-white head that settles to a ring around the edge of the snifter, good lacing too. Aroma is dark sweet smoky, fruits and chocolates. Smooth thick palate, feels like it’s coating my mouth with cool liquid chocolate sauce. The end is caramel with a molasses tang - hmmm, this would be a good beer to pair with pancakes!
