Slick (1956), Minnesota, USA Apr 6, 2003 Updated: Jun 10, 2003Very impressive. You just can't beat a good Dopplebock like this one.Very nice colorsort of a dark amber.Nice dark head that seemed to last a while.Aroma was very pleasant, chocolate, malty, with a hint of hops butthe alcohol is very well hidden, undetectable. The flavor was fantastic chocolate, malt and an almost earthy taste like oak as it warmed the wine started to make it presence known but very mildly just enough to let you know it's there. The finish was interesting not what i expected slightly hoppy but very nice.a very well done brew.I'm glad i have a few more to sample for later.I just recieved a couple more of these brews and the rating i feel is not right but should be higher. This brew is more then i am worthy of and well deserving of a perfect score. Prostman (1076), Pennsylvania, USA Mar 5, 2005 This was one of the better doppelbocks I have ever tried. There is a distinct flavor that I really can’t put my finger on but it made we want more and more. The beer poured a dark brown in color and the head was pretty thin. The flavor, as mentioned, was wonderful with some tones of caramel, toffee, nuttiness, and maltiness. Highly recommended if you can get your hands on it. Shadallion (518), Sacramento, California, USA Mar 22, 2001 Whoa, there is a LOT going on in this beer. Thick body, chocolate-caramel dopplebock flavors. The oak-aging very obvious, and very welcome. Amazing beer; the best dopplebock not called Celebrator. jdhunt76 (56), Winter Springs, Florida, USA Jun 21, 2007 Bottle. A properly named doppelbock! Dark brown pour with copper edges. Huge sweet malty aroma, that reminds of the nose off of a barleywine. Dark malty flavor with raisins, blackberries, caramel, hazelnuts and walnuts. Smooth drinking but with a great lingering finish. Loads of great flavor without heaviness you would expect from such a malt-heavy beer. loweredsixth (939), Fresno, California, USA Jun 11, 2003 Updated: Aug 8, 2003Very dark ruby color...almost opaque, with a thick creamy off-white head. The aroma was complex...vanilla, alcohol, wood (oak I assume,) chocolate. The flavor was just as complex...alcohol, roasted wood (if that makes sense,) malty sweet, toffee/caramel. Soft feel...mild carbonation. Outstanding beer!
